Materials You’ll Need:

  • Drawing Sheet
  • Cardboard Paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue (preferably hot glue)
  • Quilling Tool
  • Scoring Tool
  • Scale
  • Pencil
  • Compass
  • Eraser
  • Tissue Paper
  • Match Stick
  • Striking Surface

Step 1: Preparing the Cardboard Paper Cutouts

Start by downloading the templates (linked below). Print them out on cardboard paper and cut them carefully, following the instructions – Dotted lines (score), Line (cut).

If you prefer drawing the templates yourself, don’t worry! You can easily follow along with the YouTube video at the end of this blog for step-by-step guidance on how to sketch your own templates.

Step 2: Score, Fold, and Glue the Cutouts

Now that you have the cardboard cutouts, let’s assemble the Fire Heart Box:

  1. Lid and Base Construction: Take the heart-shaped templates for the lid and base. Using your scoring tool, create score lines where you’ll need to fold. Gently fold along those lines and then glue the flaps together, following the instructions provided. Once done, you’ll have a beautiful heart-shaped base and lid for your box.
  2. Making the Roses: For the rose flowers, use the quilling tool to roll up the paper into tight circles. Slowly remove the quilling tool, then gently release the paper to form the rose shape. Once satisfied with the shape, glue the end of the paper to secure it in place. Repeat this process for as many roses as you want to create – I personally made 35 roses for my Fire Heart Box to make it look extra special!

Step 3: Assembling the Fire Heart Box

  1. Heart Cutout Decoration: You’ve already cut out a heart shape from the lid of the box. Now, let’s get creative! Use the leftover piece of cardboard to arrange all the roses you made, creating a lovely rose bouquet. Place this bouquet inside the base of the Fire Heart Box.
  2. Cover the Lid with Tissue Paper: For the lid, you’ll need to cover the cutout heart with tissue paper. If your tissue paper is double-ply, carefully separate the layers. Use the lid’s heart shape to trace a heart on the tissue paper, then cut it out. Glue the tissue paper to the lid, covering the heart-shaped hole.
  3. Final Touch – Add a Match Stick and Striking Surface: The last step is to attach a matchstick and striking surface to the side of your Fire Heart Box. This step adds the final touch—once the lid is opened, the recipient can light the tissue paper on fire. It adds a unique, exciting element to your gift that’s sure to surprise and impress!

Why Choose a Fire Heart Box for Your Gift?

The Fire Heart Box isn’t just a creative way to present a gift; it’s a symbol of love, passion, and warmth. Whether it’s for a Valentine’s Day surprise, an anniversary, or simply a “just because” gift, this box adds an element of surprise and excitement to any present inside.
